June Update

Good news! We have gotten approval to open one day a week through the Fort Belvoir chapel ministries. Right now the vision is for a play cafe setting with toys, coffee, and prepackaged snacks. However, the goal is to truly understand the need of military spouses and kids for a setting like this before planning the nuts and bolts. I am looking for 10 people to do a 10-minute interview on what would be most helpful in an initiative like this. Could you be one of them? If so, could you email me at abby@dandelionclub.org?

We had a “Let’s End the Year Together” play date at Woodlawn playground where we had about ten moms and twenty people all together show up.  Thank you to those who came.

I am still looking to put together a team of people who would be involved in facilitating the one-day-a-week play cafes. I am also looking for a few 9-11-year-olds who could make up a junior team and a few to serve on the actual team. Volunteer Role Descriptions are still being worked on, but please pray and start thinking about joining.

Part of the purpose behind “The Dandelion Club” is to get people plugged into the community via the chapel community. Here is an interesting article about why that is so important. https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/19/health/loneliness-social-isolation-early-death-risk-wellness/index.html
