Baby Steps

“The Dandelion Club” is a huge endeavor and a bold undertaking that will happen on God’s timeline, not my own. I cannot begin to imagine how long it will take to see this God-sized dream come to fruition, but, by Him and by the edification of others, I know I can move forward by taking baby steps. My first priority in my calling is my family and supporting them well, but I know there is still space for ministry – baby step space.

Starting Friday, June 2nd, ACS (Army Community Services) will be providing weekly playdates for the Fort Belvoir community as well as for all interested military families. More info to come.

I have enrolled in the “Incubator” program organized by Kingdom Dream Initiatives. They are also providing me with a four-month program consisting of coaching, strategy, and training, as well as an opportunity to pitch the idea to investors. The program costs $3,000 and is coming out of pocket. If you feel moved to contribute and help offset the financial burden, you can do so via my Venmo link and note KDI. Thank you in advance, and, if you’re interested in finding out more information about this program, you can visit the Kingdom Dream’s Initiative website.

I’m currently communicating with the Chaplain Ministries about forming a partnership to set up a basic Chaplain-sponsored space with toys. This would be in line with the Chaplain Ministries, considering the potential for guests to meet with Chapel community members within that space, and perhaps encouraging them to visit Chapel services. From this, there also stands to reason that women utilizing the space would wish to attend the women’s ministries Chaplain Ministries provide, including PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel) and MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers).

The hope is that Chapel community families will attend the ACS playdates to start building relationships with other families, thus encouraging them to either visit the Chaplain-sponsored playspace or attend PWOC and MOPS in the fall.

I am praying that these baby steps will help us get closer to the larger, God-sized dream of an indoor play space at every major military installation. These spaces would offer coffee, water, and prepackaged snacks while maintaining regular hours throughout the week as to suit well with differing schedules. Parents could host support groups in a separate space and the space as a whole could serve to help military families find community and grow closer to God.
